Pemudik Menumpuk di Terminal Tanjung Priok

Tanjung Priok Terminal Crowded by Homecomers

Tanjung Priok Terminal in North Jakarta are packed by homecomers who are about to return to their hometowns after Eid ul Fitr salah, Monday (7/28). The crowds happened because short-range buses routing Bogor, Sukabumi, Pandeglang, and Merak are coming in late.

The buses have not come in since morning because the drivers were conducting Eid salah first

One of the homecomers waiting for bus to Pandeglang, Banten, West Java, is Wisnu (36), a resident of RT 01/01, Tugu Utara urban Village, Koja Sub-District, North Jakarta. “I deliberately going homecoming on Eid day, because I was still working yesterday. Now, I’ve been waiting for the bus for two hours, but none have come,” he lamented.

Another homecomer is Andi (45), a resident of RT 02/01, Lagoa Urban Village, Koja Sub-District. “The buses are not much and always full of passengers. Since I bring along my kid, I rather wait for the bus a bit empty,” said the man who is waiting for bus to Bogor, West Java.

Candidate Passengers Piling in Tanjung Priok Terminal

Meanwhile, a caretaker of Arimbi autobus company (PO), Heriyanto, admitted the buses come late and have not entered Tanjung Priok Terminal until afternoon. “Every day we put 60 buses on standby, with tariff stays at Rp 25 thousand. The buses have not come in since morning because the drivers were conducting Eid salah first,” he uttered.

According to Darno Suwito, Tanjung Priok Terminal officer, his party has coordinated with autobus companies to immediately send their fleets. “In Tanjung Priok (Terminal), the typical is short-route homecomers. The passengers are piling here because the buses come late,” he stated.
